Cyclone Murasu completes landfall; weakening expected by midday

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has confirmed that Cyclone Murasu has finished its landfall phase and will gradually lose intensity over the next several hours. The cyclone, which impacted the coastal regions of Andhra Pradesh, is anticipated to weaken substantially by midday.

Residents and authorities across South Coastal Andhra Pradesh should prepare for sustained periods of heavy rainfall throughout the next 12-hour window, the IMD cautioned. The weather system continues to pose risks from inundation, waterlogging, and localized flooding in vulnerable areas.

The IMD advised residents in affected districts to exercise caution and remain alert for weather-related advisories. Authorities have been coordinating relief and rescue operations ahead of and during the cyclone's passage through the region.

As the system weakens and moves inland, rainfall intensity is expected to diminish progressively. However, residual precipitation may continue in scattered areas even as the cyclone deteriorates into a lower-pressure system.
