The India Meteorological Department has confirmed that Cyclone Murasu has intensified into a severe cyclonic storm as it tracks northwestward across the Bay of Bengal. The system is maintaining its trajectory toward the Indian mainland, with landfall expected to occur along the south Andhra Pradesh coast on November 3.
At the time of landfall, wind speeds are anticipated to range between 100 and 110 kilometres per hour, according to meteorological forecasts. The storm's northwestward movement is expected to bring it into contact with the coast within the next 24 hours, bringing severe weather to the region.
Authorities in Andhra Pradesh have been put on alert as preparations intensify ahead of the cyclone's arrival. The severe cyclonic storm classification indicates a significant weather system capable of causing substantial impact in its path, and residents in coastal areas are advised to take necessary precautions.
