State irrigation officials have been directed to maintain heightened vigilance as Cyclone Murasu brings heavy rainfall and swollen water bodies across coastal Andhra Pradesh. The Nallamada and Parchur drains are currently flowing above their maximum permissible levels in the Parchur, Bapatla and Chirala areas, officials confirmed.
The surge in water levels poses a significant flooding risk to low-lying agricultural lands and residential areas in the affected regions. Authorities have instructed irrigation department teams to monitor the situation continuously and coordinate with disaster management agencies to ensure public safety.
Farmers in the vicinity have been advised to move livestock and secure agricultural assets as precautionary measures. Local administration officials are on standby to respond to any emergency situations that may arise from the overflowing drains and swollen waterways.
The cyclonic system is expected to persist for the next 24-48 hours, and officials have warned that water levels may remain critical until the rainfall subsides. Residents in vulnerable areas have been advised to remain alert and follow official guidance.
