Cyclone Murasu, currently positioned approximately 290 kilometres from Nellore, is tracking toward the Andhra Pradesh coast with landfall anticipated on the morning of November 3. Meteorological authorities project the cyclone will cross the coastline between Nellore and Narsapur, bringing wind speeds gusting up to 120 kilometres per hour.
The severe weather system has prompted state governments across the region to activate emergency preparedness protocols. Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, and Odisha have issued warnings to residents in vulnerable coastal and low-lying areas, urging evacuation from high-risk zones ahead of the cyclone's arrival.
Odisha and Tamil Nadu are bracing for substantial rainfall as the system moves through the Bay of Bengal. Authorities have mobilized disaster management teams and positioned rescue equipment in anticipation of potential flooding, landslides, and infrastructure damage. Power distribution companies have been directed to ensure emergency response capabilities are operational.
Fishing communities have been advised against venturing into the sea, while maritime authorities have issued navigational warnings for vessels operating in affected waters. The cyclone's impact is expected to persist through Tuesday as it makes its inland passage, with weakening intensity anticipated in subsequent days.
