The India Meteorological Department said that Cyclone Murasu has significantly weakened and its remnants now constitute a depression affecting the border regions of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh's coastal areas.
The weather system is tracking northward and is forecast to lose further intensity over the coming 12-hour period, eventually transforming into a low-pressure area by Friday, officials said.
Localized rainfall is expected to continue across the affected regions as the system weakens. Authorities have advised residents in eastern Telangana and coastal Andhra Pradesh to exercise caution as scattered showers may persist through the dissipation phase.
The cyclone, which had intensified over the Bay of Bengal earlier this week, has been gradually losing strength since making landfall. Meteorological officials have indicated that conditions are expected to improve substantially once the system transitions into a low-pressure zone.
