A consulting firm has submitted a draft urban master plan for Da Lat that includes the construction of an extensive electric railway system to improve connectivity across the central highlands destination. The proposed network would comprise six separate rail lines totaling over 100 kilometers in combined length, designed to link Lien Khuong Airport with the city center and key tourist attractions throughout the region.
The electric rail system represents a significant infrastructure investment aimed at addressing transportation challenges in Da Lat, which has emerged as one of Vietnam's premier tourism destinations. The proposal seeks to modernize the city's transport infrastructure while reducing carbon emissions through the use of electric-powered trains rather than conventional fuel-based vehicles.
As part of the broader urban planning initiative, the rail network would facilitate improved access to popular sites and reduce congestion on existing road networks. The development is currently under review as part of the city's comprehensive planning process, which addresses long-term growth and sustainability goals.
Da Lat, located in Lam Dong Province at an elevation of over 1,500 meters, attracts millions of domestic and international visitors annually. The highland city's cool climate and natural landscapes have made it a preferred destination for tourism, creating demand for enhanced transportation infrastructure to better serve both residents and visitors.
