DAP braces for tough election battle as BN-PN alliance takes shape

DAP leadership has signalled that the party faces mounting pressure ahead of the next general election, with party secretary-general Lim Guan Eng warning of challenging times to come. The caution comes as Barisan Nasional and Perikatan Nasional move closer to a formal electoral alliance at the national level.

Lim stressed that despite the headwinds, the DAP must remain steadfast in its principles and continue pursuing what the party believes to be the correct course of action. The party will not yield to external pressures, he indicated, as it prepares for what observers expect to be a more fractious electoral contest.

The potential BN-PN alliance would significantly reshape Malaysia's political landscape, potentially consolidating substantial voter blocs against opposition forces. For DAP, traditionally part of the Pakatan Harapan coalition, such a development would require strategic recalibration ahead of general election polling.

Party officials have made clear that DAP will continue its policy positions and political direction regardless of the changing alliance configurations among rival political forces, emphasising the importance of maintaining integrity in Malaysia's democratic process.
