DAP calls for transparency on Najib clemency decision

Senior Democratic Action Party figures have renewed calls for the government to declassify records from Pardons Board sessions that led to decisions affecting former Prime Minister Najib Razak's detention status, citing the need for transparency in the clemency process.

The opposition lawmakers argue that public disclosure of the board's meeting minutes would clarify the grounds and reasoning behind the executive decision affecting Najib, who has been serving a sentence related to the 1Malaysia Development Berhad scandal. They contend that such transparency is essential to maintaining public confidence in the integrity of Malaysia's justice system.

Separately, party figures have also endorsed Transport Minister Anthony Loke's recent decision to step down from his ministerial post, signalling the opposition's broader positioning on accountability matters within the political establishment.
