DAP challenges PAS lawmakers over Zahid case scrutiny, AGC decision

DAP's legal affairs bureau chairman Ramkarpal Singh has hit back at PAS lawmakers, saying they have not done their due diligence before commenting on the Zahid Hamidi case. Ramkarpal stated that DAP has consistently questioned the Attorney-General's Chambers' (AGC) decision to discontinue prosecution in 47 cases related to Yayasan Akalbudi, the day after the decision was announced.

The dispute centres on the AGC's decision to drop charges, which DAP has maintained warrants public scrutiny and explanation. Ramkarpal's remarks suggest that PAS assemblymen have not thoroughly examined the facts surrounding the case before making statements on the matter.

DAP has positioned itself as holding the government accountable over the decision, arguing that the public deserves clarity on the grounds for discontinuing prosecution.
