A Kepong Member of Parliament has raised concerns over disparate legal action taken in two separate cases involving the Jalur Gemilang, Malaysia's national flag, across different states.

Lim Lip Eng, the DAP representative for Kepong, questioned why different enforcement approaches were taken in flag-related incidents reported in Johor and Terengganu. According to Lim, two individuals faced legal action in Johor concerning the national flag, while no arrests have been made in a similar case in Terengganu involving the Majlis Bandaraya Kuala Terengganu (MBKT). The disparity has prompted the lawmaker to seek clarification on the grounds for the differing responses. Lim's remarks highlight concerns about consistency in law enforcement across Malaysian states when handling cases involving national symbols. The matter underscores ongoing debates about the uniform application of regulations protecting Malaysia's national insignia and the procedures governing their use or misuse.
