DAP representative Thien Ee Hang has called on Warisan to own up to its involvement in matters related to the Pan Borneo Highway development, pointing to a critical decision made in 2019 that he said affected the project's trajectory. According to Thien, Warisan president Shafie Apdal, who was serving as Sabah's chief minister at the time, had recommended abandoning the project delivery partner model for the infrastructure initiative. The suggestion came during a period when the state was reviewing approaches to the major transportation project that aims to connect key towns across the island of Borneo. Thien's comments reflect ongoing political debate in Sabah regarding responsibility for delays and management decisions on the Pan Borneo Highway, which has faced various implementation challenges since its inception. The dispute underscores differing perspectives between political parties on the handling of one of the state's most significant infrastructure undertakings, with each side seeking to establish its position on how the project has been managed.
