Teresa Ong, the Member of Parliament for Seputeh, has strongly rebutted claims made by PAS president Hadi Awang that the DAP holds sympathies toward the Malayan Communist Party. In a statement responding to Hadi's latest remarks, Ong characterised the accusation as both racist and without substantive foundation. The DAP politician expressed disappointment at what she described as a continued pattern of inflammatory rhetoric from the PAS leadership. Ong argued that such unfounded allegations undermine constructive political discourse and contribute to deepening divisions within Malaysia's political landscape. The exchange reflects ongoing tensions between the two opposition parties, which have frequently traded accusations over ideological positioning and historical associations. DAP officials have previously denied any connection to communist ideology, emphasising their commitment to democratic principles and Malaysia's constitutional framework.
