DAP pushes for equal parliamentary funding as statutory requirement
The Democratic Action Party has renewed calls for Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim to establish equal allocation of funds to all Members of Parliament as a legal requirement rather than a discretionary practice.

DAP's Gobind Singh Deo said the party has held multiple discussions with Anwar's administration regarding uniform parliamentary funding distribution, emphasising the need for legislative backing to ensure consistency and fairness across all constituencies.
The push for equal allocation reflects concerns within the party that current funding mechanisms may favour certain MPs over others, creating disparities in their ability to serve constituents effectively.
Gobind stressed that codifying equal funding into law would eliminate potential arbitrariness and provide transparency in how parliamentary resources are distributed nationwide, regardless of political affiliation or party membership.
The proposal underscores ongoing efforts by DAP and other coalition partners in the unity government to establish standardised parliamentary procedures and funding frameworks that apply uniformly across all elected representatives.
No official response from the Prime Minister's office has been issued regarding the proposal at this time.
