DAP pushes PM to equalise parliamentary allocation for all MPs

The Democratic Action Party (DAP) has intensified calls for the federal government to implement uniform allocation of parliamentary funds to all Members of Parliament, regardless of party affiliation or constituency size.

Party leader Gobind Singh Deo pressed Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim to establish equitable distribution mechanisms that would provide identical resources to every MP in the legislative body. According to Gobind, the current allocation system lacks fairness and creates disparities in the ability of elected representatives to serve their constituents effectively.

To prevent future reversals of such a policy, Gobind urged the government to codify the equal allocation framework into legislation. By embedding the measure into law, he argued, successive administrations would be bound to maintain the equitable distribution regardless of political circumstances or shifts in government priorities.

The DAP's position reflects broader concerns within opposition and backbench circles about resource disparity among MPs. The party contends that all elected representatives deserve comparable resources to discharge their parliamentary duties and support their constituencies adequately.
