DAP reaffirms respect for Malay rights, Islam's constitutional position

The Democratic Action Party (DAP) has moved to clarify its stance on constitutionally-protected Malay and Islamic interests, stating that the party has never questioned these established rights. Party member RSN Rayer emphasised DAP's respect for the Federal Constitution and its provisions governing the status of Islam and Malay communities in Malaysia. Rayer expressed gratitude for enhanced funding dedicated to Islamic development initiatives, which have been increased to RM3.1 billion. The statement comes as part of ongoing efforts by the multiracial coalition partner to address perceptions about its position on sensitive communal matters. DAP, as a component of Malaysia's ruling political alliance, has consistently maintained that its secular political ideology does not conflict with constitutional protections afforded to Islam and Malay interests. The clarification underscores the party's commitment to operating within Malaysia's constitutional framework while advocating for its policy objectives.
