DAP's equal allocation demand is political theatre, says Wawasan

Wan Saiful Wan Jan, vice president of Wawasan Negara, has dismissed the Democratic Action Party's push for equitable allocation of parliamentary allowances as little more than political posturing. The party, he claimed, is attempting to distract from deeper concerns about functioning as an opposition force in the current political landscape.
Wan Saiful's remarks come as DAP has advocated for equal distribution of parliamentary member allocations among all elected representatives, regardless of their political affiliation. The proposal has featured prominently in the party's recent parliamentary agenda and public statements.
According to Wawasan Negara's assessment, DAP's real underlying worry stems from navigating opposition politics in the aftermath of the 15th general election held in November 2022. The party, which lost considerable ground in that election compared to previous contests, has been recalibrating its political strategy and messaging.
The dispute over parliamentary allocations reflects broader tensions within Malaysia's legislature, where opposition members have historically received fewer resources and support services compared to government-aligned lawmakers.
