DAP urges Negeri Sembilan excos to resign if Tuanku Muhriz steps down

The Democratic Action Party has called on Negeri Sembilan's executive councillors to resign on principle should Tuanku Muhriz no longer serve as the state's ruler, underscoring the constitutional ties between their office and the monarchy.

Party leader Anthony Loke reminded the state officials that they took their oath of office before the Sultan, establishing a direct personal covenant with the ruler. This constitutional relationship, he argued, means their positions are intrinsically linked to Tuanku Muhriz's tenure.

"If the basis of your oath is no longer present, then honour and principle demand that you step down," Loke said, challenging the councillors to demonstrate their commitment to constitutional values and integrity in public office.

The DAP's statement reflects broader discussions about the intersection of constitutional monarchy and executive accountability in Malaysia's state governments, where oath-taking ceremonies before the ruler remain a formal and symbolic cornerstone of the administrative process.
