The Democratic Action Party (DAP) will not field a candidate in the Bemban state constituency, party secretary-general Lim Guan Eng announced, attributing the decision to limited chances of securing victory in the seat. According to Lim, DAP's performance in Bemban during the 2021 state election saw the party finish in third place, a position that does not warrant renewed efforts in the coming contest. The decision reflects the party's strategy to concentrate resources on constituencies where it holds stronger competitive positions. Lim noted that DAP has achieved second-place finishes in several other state seats, though these efforts did not translate into electoral victories. The withdrawal from Bemban is part of broader seat allocation discussions among opposition coalition partners as Malaysia's political landscape continues to evolve ahead of potential state-level contests.
