Daraga bolsters disaster response with fleet of rescue vehicles

DARAGA, ALBAY — Fifty-four barangays in Daraga have received rescue vehicles totaling 78 million pesos in a major push to strengthen disaster preparedness and emergency response infrastructure across the municipality.
The vehicles were funded through the Local Government Support Fund (LGSF) and were formally blessed and distributed during a turnover ceremony held on Friday. The initiative reflects municipal efforts to ensure rapid response capacity in times of natural disasters and other emergencies affecting local communities.
The equipment distribution comes as the region continues to invest in disaster management capabilities amid its vulnerability to typhoons and other weather-related hazards. Each barangay's new rescue vehicle is expected to enhance response times for emergency situations and support community safety initiatives.
Rev. Fr. Tony Cial officiated the blessing of the vehicles during the handover, underscoring community support for the emergency response initiative. The project represents a substantial municipal investment aimed at protecting residents across Daraga's constituent barangays.
