Darley Butler Company, one of Sri Lanka's longest-established commercial enterprises, has donated Rs. 2.5 million to HelpAge Sri Lanka to expand its Mobile Medical Units programme.
The contribution will support the organisation's ongoing efforts to deliver free medical and eye care services to vulnerable elderly citizens in underserved communities nationwide. The cheque presentation ceremony was conducted by the company's leadership, formalising the partnership between the commercial entity and the humanitarian organisation.
HelpAge Sri Lanka operates Mobile Medical Units as a core component of its elderly care initiatives, ensuring that disadvantaged seniors in remote and rural areas have access to essential healthcare services. The donation represents a significant boost to the organisation's capacity to reach more beneficiaries across the island.
The partnership reflects growing corporate involvement in addressing healthcare gaps for Sri Lanka's ageing population, particularly in districts with limited medical infrastructure. Through the mobile clinics, HelpAge Sri Lanka provides preventative care, treatment for chronic conditions, and specialised eye examinations at no cost to participants.
Darley Butler's contribution underscores private sector commitment to supporting social welfare initiatives that address critical healthcare disparities among vulnerable populations in Sri Lanka.
