MANILA – Kathy Baldonado, a lawyer at the Davao City Register of Deeds, was sworn in Monday as a prosecution witness in the Article II proceedings of Vice President Sara Duterte's impeachment trial.
Baldonado's testimony is expected to address allegations that Duterte failed to properly disclose her wealth and business interests, as well as concerns regarding the accuracy of her Statements of Assets, Liabilities and Net Worth (SALNs). The witness is anticipated to present evidence related to property transactions registered under Duterte's name or connected entities.
Article II of the impeachment case centers on claims of unexplained wealth accumulation and alleged false declarations in official documents filed by the Vice President. The testimony from the Register of Deeds office is expected to provide documentation of property ownership and registration details relevant to the prosecution's case.
Duterte, who faces multiple impeachment articles, has denied all allegations against her. The trial continues to hear evidence from various witnesses as the proceedings advance through the formal charges brought against her.
