KUALA LUMPUR — Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) and the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) are exploring the establishment of a joint control centre to oversee and coordinate the city's extensive closed-circuit television network, according to a statement from city leadership.

The proposed facility would centralize management of approximately 10,000 CCTV cameras currently deployed throughout Kuala Lumpur, enhancing real-time surveillance and security response operations. The collaborative initiative represents an effort to streamline city safety operations and improve inter-agency coordination during emergency situations.

Under the envisaged arrangement, both DBKL and PDRM would contribute resources and personnel to the unified control centre, allowing for integrated monitoring and faster incident response across the capital. The proposed setup would leverage existing camera infrastructure while potentially expanding coverage in identified security gaps.

The discussions between the municipal authority and police force come as Kuala Lumpur seeks to strengthen its security framework and optimize technological assets for public safety. Officials indicated that detailed planning and resource allocation discussions remain ongoing between the two organizations.
