DBM to streamline salary adjustments for promoted government workers

MANILA – Government employees receiving promotions or whose positions undergo reclassification will see faster salary adjustments under a new streamlined process being developed by the Department of Budget and Management.

Acting Budget Secretary Kim Robert De Leon announced that the DBM is drafting guidelines to automatically release funds for personnel services deficiencies, removing bureaucratic hurdles that have slowed compensation adjustments in the past.

Under the current system, agencies must submit individual requests to access additional budget allocations when employees are promoted or their positions are reclassified to higher salary grades. The new automatic-release mechanism is expected to accelerate this process significantly.

The DBM aims to implement the system by the fourth quarter of this year, marking a significant shift toward faster, more efficient salary processing for the civil service. Officials said the move will reduce administrative workload on agencies while ensuring government workers receive timely compensation adjustments reflecting their new positions.

The initiative is part of broader efforts to improve payroll management and human resources administration across the government sector.
