Death toll from monsoon and tropical cyclones reaches 26 in Philippines

MANILA — The combined impact of the southwest monsoon and tropical cyclones Luis and Maymay has claimed at least 26 lives, according to the National Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council (NDRRMC) in its latest situation report released Tuesday.

The three weather systems have displaced and impacted over four million people across the Philippines, authorities said. The NDRRMC has been closely monitoring the situation as the weather disturbances continue to affect various regions.

Disaster management officials are coordinating response and relief efforts in affected areas. The council has been providing regular updates as assessments of damages and casualties continue.
