Death toll from Nepal-China border flash floods climbs to 162

The death toll from flash floods that swept through Nepal's border area with China has risen to 162, authorities confirmed on Monday. The disaster struck with little warning, overwhelming communities in low-lying areas near the frontier.

Nepal's armed forces have deployed personnel to conduct search and rescue operations across the affected zone. Private helicopter operators have been mobilized to assist in the relief effort, with crews working to reach isolated areas cut off by rising waters and debris flows.

Rescue teams have managed to evacuate 114 people to safety so far, transporting them to designated shelter areas away from the flood-affected regions. Emergency services continue combing through affected communities to locate additional survivors and assess the full scale of damage.
