DINALUPIHAN, Bataan — Accumulated logs, tree branches and firewood have clogged waterways throughout Barangay Pita, compounding recovery efforts in this flood-ravaged community. The Pita River, which overflowed its banks on September 2, swept away at least nine houses situated along its banks, leaving residents struggling to restore normalcy.
The debris blockage poses additional challenges for the waterlogged barangay, potentially hindering drainage and increasing flood risk during future heavy rains. Cleanup operations are expected to take considerable time given the volume of material scattered across the affected area.
The Dinalupihan Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office has joined forces with local police to address the crisis. Authorities are assessing the full extent of damage and coordinating recovery initiatives in the devastated community. Residents of Barangay Pita, situated in the landlocked municipality, face a lengthy reconstruction process as cleanup and rehabilitation work begins in earnest.
