Decathlon targets ₹1,000 crore running sports business within four years

Decathlon Sports India is charting an ambitious expansion strategy in the running sports segment, aiming to establish a ₹1,000 crore business within the next four years. The sports retailer and manufacturer, which posted revenues of ₹4,133.10 crore in the financial year ended March 2025, is backing its growth plans with a substantial capital commitment.

The company has earmarked 100 million euros for developing and strengthening its manufacturing infrastructure across India. This investment underscores Decathlon's strategy to reduce dependence on imports and build local production capabilities for running-specific products including footwear and apparel.

The initiative comes as India's athletic and fitness sectors witness robust consumer demand, driven by rising health consciousness and growing participation in organized running events. Decathlon's focus on domestic manufacturing is expected to enhance operational efficiency and reduce lead times while supporting the company's cost competitiveness.

The investment reflects broader industry trends, with global sports brands increasingly locating production capacity in India to serve regional markets and capitalize on the country's manufacturing advantages. Decathlon's expansion into running sports aligns with category-specific growth opportunities in the Indian consumer market.
