The Defence Ministry is open to exploring alternative locations for the Langkawi International Maritime and Aerospace (LIMA) exhibition should space constraints arise at the current venue, the Defence Minister said on Wednesday.
The minister's remarks come as organisers assess the long-term sustainability of hosting the major defence and aviation showcase at its traditional Langkawi location. The biennial exhibition has been a signature event on Malaysia's defence industry calendar, attracting international exhibitors and military delegations.
While no immediate relocation is planned, the ministry acknowledged that venue considerations may need to be revisited depending on future exhibition requirements and infrastructure capacity. The assessment reflects broader strategic planning as Malaysia seeks to maintain LIMA's prominence as a regional defence and aerospace platform.
Office holders stressed that any potential venue changes would be made in consultation with stakeholders, including defence contractors, international participants, and relevant government agencies. The ministry indicated that decisions on such matters would be guided by the exhibition's operational needs and long-term competitiveness.
