Defence Ministry's SPARSH portal eases pension tracking for armed forces retirees

Defence pensioners across India now have access to a centralised digital platform that streamlines pension management and enhances transparency in benefit disbursement. The SPARSH portal, operationalised by the Defence Ministry, allows retired military personnel to track their monthly pension payments, review entitlements and monitor the status of their life certificates without visiting government offices.

The digital initiative addresses longstanding challenges faced by defence pensioners who previously relied on manual processes to verify pension details and resolve payment anomalies. Through the portal, users can access their Pension Payment Order (PPO) details, view transaction histories and identify errors at an early stage, enabling faster rectification and preventing prolonged financial complications.

Life certificate submission, a mandatory requirement for continued pension eligibility, has been simplified through the platform's online tracking mechanism. Pensioners can now monitor the status of their life certificates and receive timely reminders for renewal, reducing instances of pension interruption due to documentation lapses.

The SPARSH platform represents the Defence Ministry's broader digital transformation effort to enhance service delivery for the armed forces community. By migrating pension administration to a transparent, technology-enabled system, the government aims to reduce processing delays and improve pensioner satisfaction while ensuring accountability in fund disbursement.
