MANILA — Defense Secretary Gilbert "Gibo" Teodoro Jr. on Saturday challenged former Senator Antonio Trillanes IV to submit concrete evidence to support allegations that Chinese money flowed to an organization linked to Vice President Sara Duterte and her relatives.
Tedoro said that if substantiated, such allegations would carry serious implications for national security and governance. However, he emphasized that claims must be backed by documented proof before authorities can take action.
"The allegations need to be brought before law enforcement with supporting evidence," the Defense chief stated, underscoring the importance of proper legal procedures in addressing such sensitive matters involving high-ranking officials.
The statement comes amid ongoing political tensions between the administration and critics who have raised questions about funding sources for various organizations and entities. Trillanes, a vocal critic of the Vice President, has previously made various accusations regarding the Duterte family's financial dealings.
The Defense Secretary's remarks reflect the government's position that any serious allegations against sitting officials must follow established investigative protocols with credible evidence presented to appropriate authorities.
