Delaying house arrest would disrespect royal order, says Asyraf

The Umno secretary-general has cautioned against any delay in implementing a house arrest order, stating that such postponement would constitute disrespect toward a royal directive. His comments come as focus turns to enforcement of the sentence following payment of an associated fine. Asyraf stressed that with the financial obligation now settled, there remains no valid reason to defer the execution of the house arrest. He emphasised the importance of upholding the constitutional powers vested in the Yang di-Pertuan Agong, noting that all citizens and institutions must demonstrate respect for royal decisions. The remarks underscore broader concerns within Umno regarding adherence to judicial orders and the authority of the monarchy in Malaysia's constitutional framework.
