Delhi air quality slips into poor zone as AQI breaches 210

Delhi's air quality dipped into the poor category on Wednesday, with the Air Quality Index (AQI) standing at 214, indicating conditions that may cause respiratory discomfort to the general population and more severe effects on vulnerable groups. The reading reflects widespread pollution challenges across the National Capital Region as atmospheric conditions trap pollutants near ground level. Noida recorded an AQI of 200, also falling within the poor category, while Ghaziabad registered 194. Greater Noida reported a marginally better reading of 181, though still categorized as poor. The situation showed some improvement in peripheral areas, with Gurugram posting an AQI of 153 and Faridabad recording 95, suggesting better air quality dispersal in these cities. Health officials have advised residents, particularly children, the elderly, and those with respiratory conditions, to limit outdoor activities and consider using air purifiers indoors.
