Delhi Airport Opens New International Pier Ahead of BRICS Summit

Indira Gandhi International Airport has commissioned Pier C at Terminal 3, a converted facility designed to enhance the airport's capacity to manage international flights. The new pier becomes operational at a significant moment, with India preparing to host the BRICS Summit, which is expected to draw international delegations and dignitaries.

The expansion addresses growing demand at one of South Asia's busiest aviation hubs. Once fully operational, Pier C will contribute substantially to increasing Delhi Airport's annual international passenger-handling capacity from approximately 20.7 million to 31 million passengers, representing a 50 percent increase.

The terminal conversion reflects India's broader infrastructure modernization efforts ahead of major international events. Terminal 3 has been a cornerstone of Delhi Airport's international operations, and the addition of Pier C demonstrates the airport's commitment to meeting rising passenger volumes as air travel continues to grow across the region.

The facility enhancement comes as Delhi Airport continues to position itself as a major aviation gateway for South and Southeast Asia, handling traffic from multiple continents and serving as a crucial connection point for business, leisure, and diplomatic travel.
