NEW DELHI — The Ministry of Heavy Industries has given the green light to 382 sites for electric vehicle charging infrastructure across Delhi, according to an announcement by Delhi's Power Minister Ashish Sood on Sunday.
The approval follows an initial identification of 456 potential locations by the Delhi government's Revenue Department and the Delhi Transport Corporation. The 382 approved sites have undergone a three-month reassessment process to categorise facilities by vehicle segment, ensuring separate infrastructure for two-wheelers, three-wheelers, and four-wheelers, Sood said in a statement.
The systematic site assessment aligns with Delhi's EV Policy, notified on June 30, and prepares the charging network to support forthcoming regulatory mandates. These include 100 per cent electric vehicle registrations for three-wheelers and light commercial vehicles (N1 category) from January 1, 2027, followed by two-wheelers from April 1, 2028.
The state government has engaged professional services firm KPMG as Project Management Unit to oversee the charging infrastructure rollout, signalling a structured approach to implementing the charging network across the national capital.
