Torrential rain battered Delhi on Monday, bringing traffic disruptions and waterlogging to several parts of the city. The downpour, accompanied by dark clouds, reduced visibility on major thoroughfares and prompted authorities to exercise caution on commuter routes.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast an additional wet spell expected to arrive around midnight, raising concerns over accumulated water on roads and low-lying areas. Meteorologists attributed the persistent rainfall to active monsoon conditions affecting the region.
Residents have been advised to exercise caution while commuting and avoid flooded routes where possible. The IMD indicated that gloomy skies would dominate throughout the day, with intermittent showers continuing to impact daily life in the city.
Authorities have intensified drainage clearing operations in vulnerable zones ahead of the predicted fresh spell. The weather system is expected to gradually weaken from Tuesday onwards, according to departmental predictions.
