Delhi braces for heat as monsoon withdrawal gathers pace

The Indian Meteorological Department has indicated that Delhi will experience dry weather conditions through September 25, marking the beginning of the seasonal monsoon withdrawal across the country. The capital is forecast to see partly cloudy skies on Saturday and Sunday, with conditions becoming predominantly clear thereafter.

Maximum temperatures in Delhi are expected to climb to around 36 degrees Celsius as cloud cover diminishes. The shift comes as the southwest monsoon gradually retreats from northern regions, a pattern that typically occurs during late September.

The withdrawal of monsoon systems across India signals the transition toward the post-monsoon period. As moisture-laden winds retreat southwestward, much of northern India, including the National Capital Region, will experience progressively drier and warmer conditions.

Residue from the monsoon season and the changing atmospheric patterns may still create occasional cloud formations, but sustained rainfall is unlikely in Delhi over the forecast period. Residents should anticipate typical early autumn weather, with bright days and warm afternoons characterizing the coming week.
