Delhi civic body orders demolition of unsafe building after tower collapse kills six
The Municipal Corporation of Delhi has directed the owner of a Satya Niketan building to demolish the structure within three days after it was deemed dangerous following a nearby five-storey building collapse that killed six people.

The MCD issued the demolition order for property number 13 in the southwest Delhi locality on September 6, citing that the structure posed an immediate risk to residents, visitors, pedestrians, and adjacent buildings. The order came in the aftermath of the collapse of nearby property number 14, which resulted in six fatalities.
The demolition directive was issued by the Executive Engineer (Building)-I of the MCD's South Zone under Section 348 read with Section 491 of the Delhi Municipal Corporation Act, 1957. The authority assessed the building at property 13 as being in a "ruinous and dangerous condition."
According to the order, the MCD will proceed with demolishing the building at its own expense if the owner or occupier fails to comply within the three-day timeframe. The corporation has stated it will recover the demolition costs from the property owner as arrears of municipal dues.
The action reflects the MCD's heightened scrutiny of aging and structurally compromised buildings in residential areas, particularly following the tragedy at the adjacent property.
