Delhi court admits NIA chargesheet in Red Fort blast investigation

A special court in Delhi has formally admitted the National Investigation Agency's chargesheet in connection with the Red Fort blast case, marking a significant development in the investigation into the incident. The move paves the way for the legal proceedings against the accused to advance further.

According to the chargesheet, all 10 accused individuals were linked to Ansar Ghazwat-ul-Hind (AGuH), identified as an offshoot of Al-Qaeda in the Indian Subcontinent (AQIS). The principal accused, Dr. Umer Un Nabi, is among those named in the chargesheet, though he is now deceased.

The NIA, India's premier counter-terrorism investigation agency, had filed the comprehensive chargesheet following its probe into the circumstances surrounding the Red Fort incident. The court's cognisance of the chargesheet represents an important procedural step, enabling the prosecution to present its case against the accused before the judicial authority.

The terror outfit AGuH, operating as an Al-Qaeda affiliate, has been the focus of sustained law enforcement action. The investigation's findings regarding the accused individuals' alleged association with the organization are expected to form the basis of the legal arguments in the upcoming trial proceedings.
