Delhi court denies bail to accused in Satya Niketan building collapse case

The Patiala House court in Delhi has dealt a significant setback to Hariram Gupta, the prime accused in the Satya Niketan building case, by refusing to grant him bail. In its order, the court highlighted a stark discrepancy between Gupta's submissions and available evidence on record.

Gupta had claimed to have no connection to the building in question; however, court proceedings revealed that the electricity connection for the structure is registered in his name. This documentary evidence directly contradicts the accused's assertions of non-involvement, the court noted.

Further complicating Gupta's position, several witnesses have provided statements indicating his role in the building's construction and maintenance. The court considered these testimonies alongside the utility records while deciding against granting bail. The convergence of documentary evidence and witness accounts formed the basis of the court's decision to keep the accused in custody pending trial.

The case pertains to an incident at the Satya Niketan residential complex, with authorities investigating the circumstances surrounding structural failures and safety violations. The investigation continues as the accused remains in judicial custody.
