Delhi court postpones decision on Sonia Gandhi electoral roll case
A Delhi court has deferred its order on a revision plea challenging an earlier verdict that refused to investigate allegations about Congress leader Sonia Gandhi's inclusion in electoral rolls. The decision will be pronounced on September 21.

Special Judge Vishal Gogne adjourned the pronouncement of the order on Saturday in the case that centres on whether Gandhi's name appeared on electoral rolls three years before she acquired Indian citizenship in 1983.
The revision plea seeks to challenge a September 11 verdict by a magistrate court that had dismissed a complaint filed by advocate Vikas Tripathi, vice president of the Central Delhi Court Bar Association. The magistrate had declined to initiate a probe into the allegations.
During Saturday's hearing, Gandhi's legal counsel submitted a reply contending that the complaint was motivated by political considerations and filed for extraneous reasons rather than legitimate legal grounds. The defence has consistently maintained that the case lacks merit and is being used as a tool for political harassment.
The case relates to historical electoral records and citizenship documentation dating back to the 1980s. The magistrate's earlier decision to dismiss the complaint without ordering an investigation had sided with Gandhi's position that the allegations do not warrant further judicial examination.
