Delhi demolishes building adjacent to deadly Satya Niketan collapse
The Municipal Corporation of Delhi has begun controlled demolition of a structure adjoining the five-storey building that collapsed in south Delhi last week, killing at least seven people. The adjacent structure housing a girls' hostel was declared unsafe following the incident.

Demolition work commenced Tuesday on the building next to the collapsed Satya Niketan structure, with officials confirming the adjacent property had been classified as dangerous. The controlled demolition began in the morning and was suspended in the evening, with work set to resume Wednesday, according to MCD officials.
The building housed a girls' paying guest accommodation that was evacuated immediately after the neighbouring five-storey structure collapsed on September 6, claiming at least seven lives and injuring five others. The MCD issued a formal demolition order for the property citing it as a safety threat to residents and adjoining buildings.
Students previously occupying the hostel had already vacated the premises and were expected to collect their personal belongings prior to the demolition exercise. The controlled demolition is part of the municipal authority's response to assess structural integrity of surrounding buildings in the aftermath of the collapse.
