Delhi deploys 20,000 personnel ahead of October 10 protest

Delhi Police has stepped up security arrangements across the national capital in preparation for a major protest scheduled for October 10. The enhanced measures reflect concerns about managing large gatherings in sensitive areas of the city.

According to security plans, more than 20,000 personnel will be deployed across Delhi, central Delhi, and the capital's outer perimeter. The deployment aims to maintain law and order while facilitating the right to protest.

In and around the Jantar Mantar area—a traditional protest zone in central Delhi—the police have arranged multiple layers of security infrastructure. The deployment includes over 6,500 personnel stationed specifically in the sensitive zones surrounding the planned demonstration site.

Technological surveillance has also been bolstered, with more than 300 CCTV cameras positioned to monitor the area. The security cordon includes seven tiers of barricading to regulate crowd movement and ensure public safety.

The comprehensive security arrangement represents a standard protocol for managing large public gatherings in Delhi, balancing the need to maintain order while respecting citizens' constitutional rights to peaceful assembly.
