Delhi's transport authorities have intensified their focus on passenger safety through a multi-pronged deployment strategy. The placement of nearly 3,000 bus marshals across the state transport network represents a significant expansion of on-ground security personnel tasked with maintaining order and assisting commuters during their journeys.
In tandem with the marshal deployment, the government has operationalized 56 specially designated buses exclusively for women passengers. These vehicles form part of the broader effort to address safety concerns and provide dedicated transport options for female commuters across the city.
The initiatives underscore the administration's commitment to strengthening the public transport infrastructure, a critical service that handles hundreds of thousands of daily commutes in the national capital. Transport officials indicated that the combined measures are designed to create a more secure and inclusive environment for all bus users.
The deployment comes as Indian cities continue to grapple with transportation safety challenges. Similar initiatives have been adopted by transport departments in other metropolitan areas, with dedicated women's buses and enhanced marshalling becoming increasingly common across urban India's public transport systems.
