Delhi distributes 2,500 approval letters for women's monthly assistance scheme
Delhi has approved Rs 2,500 monthly financial assistance for approximately 2,500 women under the Lakshmi Yojana, with disbursements set to begin September 1. The direct bank transfers aim to provide greater financial security to eligible beneficiaries across the capital.

Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta distributed approval letters to 2,500 women at Talkatora Stadium on Wednesday, marking a significant milestone for the state government's flagship women's welfare initiative. The beneficiaries will receive Rs 2,500 monthly deposits directly into their bank accounts from September 1 onwards.
Gupta underscored the Delhi government's commitment to women-centric policies, drawing parallels between women and Lakshmi, the Hindu goddess of prosperity. "Women strengthen our families and society," she said, emphasizing that supporting women remains central to the administration's development agenda. Delhi Lieutenant Governor Taranjit Singh Sandhu, BJP state president Harsh Malhotra, and cabinet ministers attended the distribution ceremony.
The Lakshmi Yojana has gained significant traction since its launch, with official data showing 9,13,495 registered beneficiaries. Of these, 6,52,223 have completed their applications and begun the approval process. The scheme aims to address women's daily financial needs while enhancing their economic independence and household financial security.
