The Delhi Drugs Traders Association has appealed to Congress leader Rahul Gandhi to postpone a rally scheduled for November 1st at Ramlila Grounds in the capital, citing mounting financial hardship on the business community.
In a letter to Gandhi, the traders' body expressed concerns that frequent protests, demonstrations, and public rallies have been causing significant economic losses to shopkeepers, merchants, and small-scale traders across Delhi.
The association argued that such large-scale political gatherings disrupt normal commercial activity and foot traffic, forcing businesses to remain shut or operate at minimal capacity. The traders emphasized that the cumulative impact of repeated disruptions has severely affected their livelihoods and business operations.
The appeal reflects growing tensions between political parties organizing large public events and the business community, which bears the economic brunt of road closures and security measures associated with major rallies and demonstrations in the national capital.
There has been no immediate response from the Congress party to the traders' request.
