Delhi election officer files FIR complaint over fabricated voter registration forms

The District Election Officer (DEO) for northeast Delhi has initiated legal proceedings against those responsible for submitting falsified voter registration documents. Following an independent verification of forms submitted in the Mustafabad area, officials confirmed that 36 of 37 Form 7s—used for voter registration—were fabricated or fraudulent.

DEO Ajay Kumar confirmed that the election department has filed a formal complaint with police seeking registration of a first information report (FIR) in connection with the matter. The discovery represents a significant breach of electoral procedures and raises concerns about the integrity of the voter registration process in the constituency.

Form 7 documents are critical to the voter registration process in India, serving as the official application for inclusion on the electoral roll. The submission of large-scale fabricated forms suggests a coordinated effort to fraudulently register voters, a matter of serious concern for electoral authorities.

The police complaint has set off an investigation into how such a large volume of false documents were submitted and whether there are broader irregularities in the voter registration process across other constituencies. Election officials have indicated they will conduct additional verification of documents in the affected area to identify any further anomalies.
