Delhi is charting an ambitious course in information technology development with its draft IT policy for the 2026-31 period, setting sights on attracting more than 200 Global Capability Centres (GCCs) to the capital. The policy framework, unveiled for stakeholder consultation, represents a significant expansion of the city's digital infrastructure and talent ecosystem.
A key pillar of the initiative focuses on human capital development, with plans to impart digital skills training to up to six lakh youth across Delhi. The training component is designed to align the city's workforce with emerging technology sector demands and create employment pathways in the growing IT economy.
Digitization of government services forms another cornerstone of the policy. Officials have committed to transitioning all notified government services to online platforms, aimed at improving citizen accessibility and administrative efficiency. This move aligns with broader national digital governance objectives while positioning Delhi as a technology-forward administration.
The policy also envisions the development of dedicated tech districts within Delhi, intended to cluster technology companies, startups, and service providers in designated zones. Such geographic concentration is expected to foster innovation, facilitate knowledge exchange, and create economies of agglomeration that attract global investments.
