Delhi HC orders health report on jailed Malviya Nagar hotel fire accused
The Delhi High Court has directed Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital to submit a comprehensive medical report on Lovkesh Bajaj, the owner of the hotel where a devastating fire killed 23 people in June. Bajaj is seeking interim bail on grounds of serious intestinal obstruction.

Justice Manoj Jain issued the directive on Tuesday while hearing Bajaj's plea for temporary release from judicial custody on medical grounds. The hotel owner, who has been admitted to RML Hospital since August 24, claims he is suffering from intestinal obstructions requiring urgent medical attention. The court scheduled the matter for further hearing on Wednesday following receipt of the hospital report.
Bajaj faces charges related to the June 3 fire at the five-storey 'Flourish Stay' bed-and-breakfast establishment in Hauz Rani, which claimed 23 lives and left 24 others with serious injuries. He is currently in judicial custody as an accused in the case.
The interim bail plea comes after a trial court rejected a similar application on September 3, determining that Bajaj was already receiving adequate specialized medical care in custody. Justice Jain's decision to seek detailed hospital documentation suggests the High Court is carefully reviewing the medical evidence before making a determination on the bail application.
