Delhi High Court denies default bail to Red Fort blast accused
The Delhi High Court has rejected a default bail plea by Jasir Bilal Wani, accused in the November 2025 Red Fort car bombing that claimed 15 lives. The court upheld a trial court's March decision, ruling that the accused was not entitled to the relief after 90 days.

A bench of Justices Prathiba M Singh and Vikas Mahajan dismissed Wani's appeal challenging the lower court's order, stating that the accused was not entitled to default bail following the stipulated 90-day period. Under Indian criminal procedure, an accused becomes eligible for default bail if the investigating agency fails to file a chargesheet within the prescribed timeframe.
Wani, a Kashmiri national, was arrested by the National Investigation Agency in November 2025 on charges of being an active co-conspirator in the terror attack. Investigators have alleged that he provided technical support for carrying out attacks, including modifying drones and attempting to fabricate rockets for militant purposes.
According to the NIA's case, Wani worked closely with suicide bomber Umar un Nabi in planning the Red Fort explosion. A Hyundai i20 vehicle detonated near the iconic Delhi landmark on November 10, 2025, at 6:52 pm, resulting in 15 deaths and sparking heightened security concerns across the capital.
The court's decision upholds the investigative agency's position that sufficient grounds exist to proceed with charges against the accused. The case remains under investigation, with the NIA continuing to probe the terror network's operational details and potential involvement of other individuals.
