Delhi High Court directs activist Neha Bora to execute peace bond

The Delhi High Court has dismissed activist Neha Bora's petition challenging proceedings against her, directing her instead to execute a peace bond and maintain order. The court's decision follows her participation in the 'Lehra Do Tiranga' march on October 16, which translated means 'Wave the Tricolour.'

The peace bond requirement is a legal instrument commonly used by Indian courts to ensure that individuals maintain public order and do not engage in activities that could disturb peace or harmony. By signing such a bond, the concerned party agrees to abide by specified conditions or face legal consequences.

Bora had approached the High Court seeking to quash proceedings initiated against her in connection with the march. However, the court chose not to grant her relief through this route. Instead, the bench directed her to comply with the peace bond conditions as a measure to ensure maintenance of public peace.

The 'Lehra Do Tiranga' march, in which Bora participated, was organized to promote nationalist sentiment and display of the Indian flag. Such demonstrations have periodically drawn the attention of law enforcement authorities across India, particularly when concerns about potential public order disruptions are flagged.
